Dr. Bulow received his undergraduate degree at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Bulow then went on to do medical research at Stanford University and completed his medical training at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Bulow subsequently completed a four year internship and residency, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, at UCSD Medical Center, in San Diego, California.

Dr. Bulow developed a special interest in minimally invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery during his residency. As Chief Resident, he received the AAGL Achievement Award in Laparoscopy, an award granted by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, a professional organization dedicated to helping women through minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. Bulow has continued to keep current with the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery as well as non-surgical options, thus providing his patients with the best and least invasive options available to them for their particular conditions.

Dr. Bulow’s other special interest, since the earliest days of his medical career, is obstetrics. Dr. Bulow has delivered thousands of babies throughout his career and he takes special pride in the individualized, attentive care and up-to-date care that he and his staff provide to his expectant patients. Together with Sandy Kaltz, LVN, who has worked with Dr. Bulow for over 20 years, pregnant patients have come to expect outstanding care in a warm, friendly environment. Dr. Bulow knows how anxiety provoking pregnancy can be. He is readily available to answer patient questions or concerns. Phone calls are always answered promptly by a real person; never by an automated answering machine or computerized phone tree.

Dr. Bulow is a past Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla. He has also served as the Chairman of the Gynecologic Oncology Subcommittee and as Chairman of the OB-GYN Educational Program at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla. Dr. Bulow has also served on the Medial Executive Committee at that institution as well.

Dr. Bulow has received numerous awards and citations for his educational achievements and excellence in patient care. He was recently named one of America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Bulow is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is an active member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the San Diego Medical Society and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.

Dr. Bulow specializes in providing quality, health care to women of all ages including general OB/GYN services, both high-risk and normal obstetrics, infertility treatments and minimally invasive surgery options providing low-risk and fast recovery treatment options. In addition to his practice, he has served as a member of the clinical faculty of the University of California, San Diego since 1988.
